Focusing on the challenges of the expected public spending cuts after the next General Election, hanover held a briefing on 27 October 2009 to look at how public sector bodies can deliver 'more for less' from their communications budgets.
Public sector spending is expected to fall after the next General Election, in response to the global downturn. Public sector bodies - both national and local - will have to tighten their belts. Communications departments are likely to be part of this process - being asked to contribute savings while continuing to provide high quality services and information to the public.
The briefing saw a panel of professionals Matt Tee, Permanent Secretary for Government Communications, Linda Quinn, Director of Communications and Marketing at the Big Lottery Fund and Donald Steel, Head of Press at the BBC, sharing their expertise and answering questions on what this means for public sector communications.
Following the discussion, hanover Senior Account Director Sarah Pearson wrote Don't shoot the messengers for Guardian Public.
