who voted for this? celebrating 75 years of party political broadcasts

In the lead-up to the election, the British Film Institute (BFI) and hanover celebrated 75 years since the first British party political broadcast went on air. An invited audience drawn from the political, media and commercial worlds, was shown previously unseen footage, as well as a few loved classics, taken from party election broadcasts throughout the ages. The footage was provided courtesy of the BFI National archives.

The film, produced by former ITN journalist David Walter and commissioned by hanover, was narrated by actor Michael Sheen and featured interviews with Lord Kinnock, Lord Heseltine and Charles Kennedy. A panel discussion hosted by Alastair Stewart followed the exclusive screening, and featured Danny Finkelstein, Sir Chris Powell and David Walter.
