Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is an issue of increasing priority at EU level. The revival of the Cross Border Directive and recent public statements claiming that HTAs are undermining Europe’s single market for drug access, have reinforced this tendency. The added value of EU cooperation on HTA is widely recognised. The opinions on the need to move beyond cooperation and towards a European HTA model are however divided.
Against this background, on 15 September 2010 hanover Brussels is holding a breakfast debate in Brussels on the EU’s approach to Health Technology Assessment.
Guest speakers:
· Antonyia Parvanova, MEP
· Nathalie Chaze, acting Head of Unit Health strategy and health systems, DG SANCO, European Commission
