Sir David Hanson served as a Labour MP for Delyn in North Wales for 28 years and brings a wealth of government and parliamentary experience with Labour to Hanover.

Serving in both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown’s Governments, David held several briefs including parliamentary private secretary to the Prime Minister for four years during Labour’s crucial second term, where he served as Tony Blair’s trusted interlocutor with the parliamentary party. He also served as a Government Whip, Minister of State for Northern Ireland, Minister of State for Justice and later Security Minister, serving at the Home Office. After 2010, David’s frontbench experience continued in Opposition, where he worked in the Shadow Treasury Team and as Shadow Immigration Minister under Ed Miliband. He was then appointed to several high-profile parliamentary committees, including the Joint Committee on Intelligence.

Since leaving Parliament in 2019, David has continued to undertake a variety of roles including most recently being asked by Keir Starmer and Labour’s NEC to produce a report for the Labour Party on issues relating to Liverpool City Council.
