Nationwide
The challenge…
Despite Nationwide’s best efforts, voter turnout for the Society’s 2005 AGM reached a new low of 730,000. They hired hanover to helpconnect with members and increase the number of votes to over one million for the 2006 AGM.
What we did…
We undertook a thorough research programme to identify which groups of members were most likely to vote and what incentives would persuade them to do so. The findings led directly to key revisions to the AGM process and supporting communication. Amongst other measures, we introduced a charitable donation per vote to Disability Sport Events (DSE), a quick vote which simplified the process for members and a consumer-friendly mailing to attract readers.
The results…
Nationwide secured a voter turnout of 1.1 million members, an increase of over 50% on 2005.
Gordon Neale, DSE Director of Events: "We never imagined this campaign would receive such an overwhelming response. Nationwide and hanover are to be applauded for their excellent planning and execution of a strategy which has made such a difference to us".
