Larry Smith

Director, Head of Energy and Industry

Larry provides strategic oversight of projects for Hanover’s energy and industry clients, drawing on over a decade’s experience in agency and politics. For over five years he led Hanover’s public affairs work with Tata Steel, helping the business through several high-profile policy and media challenges. He has also acted as strategic counsel to clients across the Group on Labour, briefing executives on its priorities for business and approaches to engaging the party.

Prior to joining Hanover, Larry worked as an Account Manager at H+K Strategies, supporting clients including RWE Innogy, Equinor and E.ON. Before his time in agency, he was a parliamentary aide to Bob Blizzard, the late Labour MP for the offshore energy hub of Lowestoft, and James Plaskitt, the former DWP minister. He also worked at the global association of social democratic and labour parties, the Socialist International, and worked as a Field Organiser on Ed Miliband’s 2010 leadership bid.
